Larry and his wife Vicilee have maintained a home in Yavapai County for over 20 years. After retiring in 2010, they moved to the Williamson Valley area in April 2012, where they live on a 5 acre parcel and raise several animals.

 

Larry grew up in the Phoenix area where he completed his early education and entered the Air Force after graduating from Maryvale High School in 1969. He spent four years in the Air force as a crew chief and flight engineer on C-130E aircraft with service in over thirty countries and was a Vietnam veteran.

 

Upon returning to Phoenix, he enrolled at Arizona State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Technical Education. Missing the comradery he felt in the service, in 1977 he joined the Arizona Air National Guard as a Flight Crew Chief on KC-135A/E aircraft. He was activated in 1990 and served in Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield / Storm. He continued to serve in the National Guard doing missions in over forty countries for an additional 21 years and received over 26 service awards.

 

In late 1979, he joined the Phoenix Police Department where he served in numerous investigative, administrative and supervisory capacities for 34 years before retiring as a Lieutenant. While on the Phoenix Police Department, he was a graduate of the Arizona Regional Community Policing Institute Leadership Development Program (Session 6) and the Arizona State University Certified Public Manager Program.  He also enrolled at Northern Arizona University and received a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership (1999). He also was the Arizona State Program Manager for two Department of Justice (DOJ) Programs, “Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Human Trafficking Task Force.” During his tenure on the police department he received over 200 service awards and commendations including the highest award that the police department presents “Medal of Valor”.  

 

Since retiring in Williamson Valley, Larry has volunteered in numerous capacities in the community. He is a past member of the Yavapai County Planning and Zoning Commission, Northern Arizona Chair for the Employers Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), current Administrative Hearing Officer for the Yavapai County Development Services adjudicating zoning and building safety violations and the Yavapai County Community Health Services where he adjudicates restaurant revocations, Yavapai Men’s Republican Forum member, Yavapai County Republican Women Associate member, Williamson Valley Community Organization Advisory Board member  and as a Safety Ministry Team Member at Heights Church.
